Virgo and Sagittarius Compatibility

Virgo is an Earth sign, signaling a tendency to plan and replan every detail of every day. Virgos are often very goal-driven and responsible. They can be very critical and will often take on another person as a pet project. Sagittarius – a Fire sign – has an explosive energy and can be excitable and sometimes erratic. Sagittarius is a free spirit and doesn't take kindly to being tied down by more serious Virgo, which can lead to some rather serious relationship issues between the two.

The Good Side

Sagittarius is often a visionary and a romantic. Virgo will try to fix that, as they want careful planning in every step of their lives. This can be a good thing, if Sagittarius is open to the ideas and suggestion Virgo offers. Virgo can help to anchor free-wheeling Sagittarius and provide the groundwork needed in order for Sagittarius to reach their goals.

Virgo is ruled by Mercury, which instills in Virgo the idea that everything is in the details. Sagittarius, on the other hand, is ruled by Jupiter, which mean Sagittarius tends to be more interested in the big picture. Sagittarius can help Virgo learn to go with the flow occasionally and will help Virgo to realize the fun in spontaneity. However, for this to work, Virgo must be open to new things – which Sagittarius will be more than willing to help Virgo learn.

On the sexual side of the relationship, Sagittarius is fun and experimental, where Virgo prefers to stay inside their shell, engaging only in the activities they're comfortable with. If Virgo can learn to let go of their reservations, Sagittarius will not only appreciate Virgo for it, they will be more inclined to make an effort to meet Virgos needs.

The Bad Side

As an Earth sign, Virgo's nature will make them want to hold Sagittarius down to a schedule or planned activity. This can cause Sagittarius a great deal of discomfort, as they are free spirited and want to experience life at ninety miles an hour. Virgo may often feel as though they were left at the starting gate, while Sagittarius is already heading for the finish line. Sagittarius's energy can drain Virgo, leading Virgo to be more openly critical of their actions.

Virgo can be easily offended if their best laid plans go awry – especially if Sagittarius is the cause. Sagittarius tends to be most concerned with getting to the end goal, not how to accomplish each step along the way, which can be trying to Virgo. These differences will often lead to fiery arguments, with both signs suffering in the end. Both parties need to learn how to set aside their own opinions and listen to the other in order to survive some of these difficult times.

If Sagittarius can't draw Virgo out of their shy shell in the bedroom, Sagittarius is likely to become bored. Sagittarius needs excitement and energy, while Virgo tends to need companionship and dependability. Consequently, Sagittarius and Virgo are sometimes better suited to a platonic friendship than to a sexual relationship. Intellectual talks will benefit both people and will allow for each to draw from the other without pulling them down into the inevitable conflicts a relationship can bring.
